When marital problems lead to property division problems

No two marriages are the same and every Florida couple has their own ups and downs along the way. One marriage might be able to withstand a particular problem while another crumbles under the same type of pressure. Although some people may claim to know who should stay married and who should divorce, only the spouses involved know what is best for their particular situation.

There may be several signs, however, that a divorce may be imminent. For instance, an abusive situation may prompt a spouse (especially if children are involved) to seek immediate refuge and, later, a formal divorce. A spouse with a substance abuse problem who refuses to seek treatment is another common reason for the end of a marriage.

Some people simply believe their acrimonious relationships are bad examples for their children and decide that divorce is the most viable option for showing their kids there are better ways to live. Deciding to end a marriage and getting through proceedings without problems are two entirely different things. In situations that are contentious from the start, issues like property division may prove quite challenging to resolve.

Anyone whose own life or the life of a child is in danger should simply get out and seek help immediately. Safety is the most important consideration, and divorce issues such as property division and child custody can be handled with the assistance of an experienced family law attorney. Most Florida divorce attorneys are skilled negotiators who know how to diffuse even the most combative situations. Acting alongside this type of guidance increases the chances of obtaining a positive outcome.
